Chinese mythology refers to those myths found in the historical geographic area of China: these include myths in Chinese and other languages, as transmitted by Han Chinese as well as other ethnic groups (of which fifty-six are officially recognized by the current administration of China). Chinese mythology includes creation myths and legends, such as myths concerning the founding of Chinese culture and the Chinese state.
Chinese Myth story Example
Sweats Blood Horse: Ferghana horse, also called sweats blood horse in Chinese, is one of China’s earliest major imports. It is native to Turkmenistan and during Han Dynasty (25AD-220AD), it was brought back to China by Zhang Qian’s diplomatic mission. Since then, it became the bonded mount for Chinese ancient emperors. They loved it because it was well-figured and understanding. They even considered it as “horse from heaven”.
